Native American Venture Fund – CARBON (NAVF Carbon) is part of Native American Venture Fund, LLC (NAVF). NAVF Carbon is dedicated to address the disastrous rise in global temperatures by developing a series of carbon sequestration projects on Native American lands.
NAVF Carbon is committed to invest $100 million dollars over the next 5 years in the development of carbon sequestration projects for the benefit of Indigenous tribes within North America. The intent of our upfront investment is to encourage tribal project owners to initiate a valuable conservation practice that will yield a carbon sequestration benefit. Together with our partners, we will manage the carbon sequestration project and the sale of the carbon offsets on behalf of the tribe, first recovering its investment and then splitting all remaining carbon revenues to the benefit of the Indian Country.
While the projects are financially profitable, the investment in the Native American economy, refocusing its timber activities, together with training and scholarships programs will bring a long-term sustainable transformation in the lives of one of the most neglected social groups in North America.
Our forest carbon team has a proven track record and capacity to implement and successfully verify complex forest carbon and ecosystem-oriented projects with a staff of senior foresters and project managers with decades of experience in a diverse range of forest management, and an extensive understanding of greenhouse gas removal and reservoir capacities of a variety of ecosystems. Our combined teams have years of experience in tribal economic development, forest carbon development, forest management and over a decade in Carbon Offset / Sequestration development with global portfolio of over 25 projects, methodology development on 8 projects and audit on 26 projects.
NAVF creates and manages a series of ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) funds in partnership with Native American Tribes. These Funds will provide significant investor returns by leveraging the “unique economic and legal advantages” afforded to federally recognized, Native American Indian tribes and Alaskan Tribal Corporations by the US Government.
For Native American Tribes, NAVF creates a solid foundation for Tribal Enterprises to succeed by providing access to capital, leadership and vision to create highly scalable and sustainable tribal economies through the planning, creation of Socially Responsible Investment Funds. NAVF serves as manager of Native American Venture Fund – CARBON and other portfolio companies / projects that NAVF may have a direct equity position in.
